Engineering problems that don't fit neatly into one discipline are what excite me most. My curiosity drives me toward challenges that live at the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and software, where solutions require understanding how hardware produces data to inform software that drives mechanics.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and began my professional career as a controls engineer in the defense industry, where I learned that the most interesting engineering problems demand more than one discipline.
I became fascinated with data-driven automation while designing control system parameterization algorithms for mechanical systems. Processing sensor data to inform and tune a physical system felt like giving the machine the ability to understand its own environment, and that idea never let me go.
Learning drives me as much as building does. I actively seek technical challenges that sit outside my comfort zone, and the MakerFX Makerspace has become that creative outlet for insatiable curiosity. This collaborative environment has allowed me to pursue my own projects and contribute to others’ creative builds in the maker community.
My philosophy is that engineering is a deeply creative craft that transcends math and science. Technical proficiency continually develops as one creatively realizes their own imagination. It’s a crucial tool that sharpens over time, but engineering lies in understanding how technical elements come together to wield it.
